Vivian Gist Obituary
Age 80 of Nolensville, TN, died peacefully on May 11, 2017. Corki was born in Bunch, Oklahoma and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, where she began her career as a musician and entertainer, working with Rock-N-Roll greats such as Duanne Eddy, Lee Hazelwood and Stanford Clark. In 1969, she married Kenny O'Dell and they moved to Nashville where Kenny pursued his songwriting career, penning "Behind Closed Doors" for his precious wife. Corki was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2014 honoring her work as the first female Rock-N-Roll session musician (the first side chick). She was a loving wife and mother and a great friend to everyone she met. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth "Kenny O'Dell" Gist; her children, Diana Rose, Sandra (Chuck) Blevens & Al (Donna) Casey; 7 grandchildren, Kirsten (Matt) Hawk, Cassie (Gordon) Gameson, Sara Draffen, Kara (Terriance) Harper, Denton Casey, Taylor Casey & Kyle Blevens; and 5 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, May 15, 2017, from 4-8 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, HICKORY CHAPEL, 5852 Nolensville Road. , Nashville, TN. Memorial contributions may be made to Musicians Hall of Fame. To the Gist Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
