Donna Norris Obituary

Donna Jean Norris 1946 - 2010 Donna was born in Hawthorne, CA, on November 21, 1946, to parents, Francis "Tuffy" Congdon and Frances G. Congdon and moved to Bakersfield with her family when she was two years old. She attended Standard School and graduated from North High School in 1964. She attended Bakersfield College for a short time then worked for the Kern County District Attorney's office for a few years. Donna married Robert Norris in 1970, and when they started their family, she became a housewife, mother, and major supporter of her husband's successful career at Calcot Ltd., as he climbed the ladder to become the President of Calcot. Donna served as the PTC President for North High School. Bob and Donna raised a family and traveled extensively during the 40 years Bob worked for Calcot. Bob and Donna spent many weekends on the coast in Cambria, CA, at their retirement home, where they entertained and welcomed many friends and family. The most treasured highlight of Donna's life, were her children and grandchildren, and from the time her first grandchild could talk, she was known affectionately as "GD" (Grandma Donna). Her favorite activity was watching and cheering on her children and grandchildren during their sport and school activities. Donna is survived by her spouse of 40 years, Bob; son, David Norris and wife, Leah; daughter, Krista Twist and husband, Jeff; five grandchildren, Jared Norris, Tayler Duncan, Mason Norris, Tristan Twist and Toby Twist. She is also survived by her brother, Gerry Congdon and wife, Geri, and many nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss her wonderful smile and generous and open heart. Chapel service will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd. Pallbearers will be Mike Congdon, Tim Lemon, Jeff Twist, Gary Champ, Gary Chapman, and Troy Etter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donna's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, American Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice. Greenlawn Mortuary www.bakersfield.com/obits

To the Norris Family. I am sadden to see that Donna past away so soon and so young. I was blessed having Millie next door to me and I met Donna. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of Millie, she was like a mom to me, I had the pleaseure of meeting all of the Norris family and watch the kids grow up. Millie was so proud of all of you. Donna took that torch after Millie past. Donna and I would touch base at least once a year to catch up on the happening, and she always let me know how proud she was of all of you and your accomplishments. especially those grand kids. So Donna, Millie and all the others are up in heaven watching over you. Millie left me with a chuckle. that I think of often, "the cat and the Pizza" need I say more. I pray for all of you, for closure and healing. Bob I pray for healing of the void in your heart and life. it all takes time. but eventually the sadness subsides and sweet memories arise and sooth your pain.

To the Norris Family:
I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Norris when I had to run an errand for Calcot to pick up a document, etc. at the home and Mrs. Norris was a very nice person and so friendly. May she be sitting along side Jesus as I write this. May God Bless all you children. You had a mother to be very "Proud" of.

Donna was a true friend. There will be an empty chair at the movies and at our birthday and Christmas dinners. It will not be the same when the girls meet at my house and catch up on all the happenings in our lives because a significant part of us will be missing.
Donna will forever live on in our hearts. She was truly loved and adored. I'm going to miss her but I find comfort in knowing someday we will meet again in Heaven.
Bob, Krista, David, and family,
May God be with you and give you comfort and peace.
Love to you all,
Shirley
