Arturo (Artie) Chavez May 1, 1970 - March 8, 2013 On March 8, 2013, our Heavenly Father embraced Artie while he slept, easing him of his pain ans suffering. Artie, age 42, was born in San Francisco on May 1, 1970 to Rachel Mazza and the late Arthur E. Chavez. He is survived by mother and stepfather, of 34 yrs., Rachel and Dom Mazza; grandparents Catherine and Alfred Lopez; grandmother Carmen Chavez; wife and son Kristie and Kade Chavez; and son Chase Chavez. He will be greatly missed by his stepbrothers and their spouses Joe and Michele Mazza and Randy and Chris Mazza; stepsister and spouse Tina and Fernando Delgado- Chavez; stepmother Rose Chavez, aunts Mary Gomez and spouse Mike, Ceice Maas, and Mary Reynolds; cousin Jeanette Ramirez Halman; and many family members and friends. As a child Artie attended local schools, and enjoyed participating in Soccer and Wrestling. He graduated from West High School in 1988, where he excelled in Wrestling and won numerous awards. Artie so loved the mountains and he and Kristie moved to Mammoth, where he worked at the slopes and enjoyed snowboarding and skiing, After several years and the birth of their son, he moved his family back home to Bakersfield, where he worked in the oilfield industry. Artie enjoyed spending his leisure time with his family, on picnics, camping, fishing and wakeboarding. He was an avid Raiders fan and enjoyed cooking. He spent many weekends at Chuck E. Cheese Arcade and local parks, with his son Kade and dog, Heina,. He knew no strangers, befriending many with his quick humor and sweet disposition. Funeral Services will be held at Basham Funeral Care Chapel on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. My darling son, your dad and I give thanks to the Lord that you are now at peace. We love you dearly, Mom and Pop.
