Bryan Bruce Dewayne Bryant(1946 - 2012)

Bruce Dewayne Bryant July 19, 1946- December 13, 2012 Bruce Bryant, age 66, was born in Hope, Arkansas to Roy and Thelma Bryant. He passed away on December 13th, 2012, in Bakersfield, Ca. Bruce was a loving husband, father, son, and grandfather. Bruce attended elementary schools in Salinas, and Shafter before moving to Bakersfield where he was a part of the first graduating class of Foothill High School in 1964. Bruce enjoyed growing up on the ranch where he found his love for working outdoors. He married Carolyn Owens in 1967 and had two sons, Bruce Jr., and Alan. He later married Jana Tallman, who he lovingly shared his life with for 35 years. Bruce retired from Turman Construction as a heavy equipment operator where he worked for 20 years. He loved working for the Turman family so much that he retired twice. Bruce was often found on weekends working in his yard, watching Nascar out in his garage, or fishing on his boat at Lake Isabella. He went on yearly fishing trips to Mexico with his good friends, and was known for his ability to tell a good joke and put a smile on your face. He had a passion for fishing, friends and family. Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Roy Bryant. He is survived by mother, Thelma Bryant; wife, Jana Bryant; sons, Bruce Jr. (Michele), Alan (Jennifer); grandchildren, Adrianne, Dylan, Naythan, Christopher, and Ashton; sister, Shirley Craig; father and mother in-law, Dan and Dorothy Lightner; sister and brother in-law, Loraine and Spero Bowman, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life/Open House will be held Saturday, December 22nd , from 1-3 p.m. at the home of Bruce Bryant Jr. at 7101 Luke Avenue in Bakersfield 93308.
