Daniel (Danny) Ruiz Jr. August 27, 1962 - April 14, 2013 Daniel (Danny) Ruiz Jr. of Bakersfield, Ca born on August 27, 1962 passed away on April 14, 2013. Daniel's spirit was taken peacefully at the age of 50 early Sunday morning. Daniel was the beloved son of Daniel Ruiz Sr. and Margaret Ruiz. He will be greatly missed by his Sister Monica Ruiz-Coodey, children; Sara Massey and son-in-law Jerrad Massey, son Daniel Ruiz; stepson, Andrew Soto; stepdaughter's Amanda Canez and Cassie Daniel and his long time companion, Linda McDonald. He was an uncle to Joseph Ruiz, Sequoia Coodey and Ryan Thompson. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but his spirit will live on forever in all the lives he touched and changed over the years. Danny attended McKinley Elementary, Emerson middle school, and then graduated from Bakersfield High School. After the years he continued his love with baseball by becoming a baseball instructor. He loved the sport for what it was and all aspects of it and became very well known throughout the years as a coach. He has touched so many families' lives in a positive way teaching baseball, he believed in those kids and tried to get everything out of them. He wanted people to respect the game more than anything because if they didn't, the game would humble you in a heartbeat. He not only taught baseball but life lessons in general, trying to make you a better person first, then better ball player. He always said "Christ is life, and everything else is baseball and that's all I need." His charismatic smile and warm embrace will be missed by all. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. on April 18th. at Basham Funeral Care Chapel. Mass will be held the next day on April 19th. at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi with Interment at Union Cemetery to follow. www.bakersfield.com/obits
