Donald McGill Sr. April 26, 1939 - September 28, 2012 Donald McGill Sr. was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas April 26, 1939. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, September 28, 2012. Donald attended Lincoln High School, graduated in 1957 and attended the University of Arkansas and graduated in 1961. Upon graduation, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Germany where he served as the Chief Weapons controller. He served in the Vietnam War
and achieved rank as a Highly Decorated Captain. After leaving the Air Force, Donald resided in Pasadena and taught high school in Inglewood California. During this time, he returned to college where he attended USC and UCLA
. He received a Masters Degree in Biology. Upon graduating Donald was hired with the Kern High School District in Bakersfield California. He taught at South High School, North High School, and Bakersfield High School. Donald enjoyed life and he loved his family. He always looked forward to attending the Simpson family reunions. He was especially proud of his grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth McGill and father, Dr. Louis McGill. Brother, Ted McGill, sisters Florene Wesley and Lois Bell. Donald McGill Sr. is survived by his wife Ursula McGill and shared many memories with her while in the USAF while he was stationed in Germany. Donald McGill Sr. is also survived by his sons Donald McGill Jr. and wife Gail, Thomas McGill, Mark McGill, and Roger McGuire and daughter, Tracy Raines. Grandchildren includes Terrance McGill, Jocelyn McGill, and Justin McGill. Also his sister, Johnnie Rhyne of Gastonia, NC and brothers George McGill of Fort Smith, AR, Ricky McGill of Modesto, CA and Herbert McGill of Little Rock, AR. Funeral Services will be held, Saturday, October 6th, 10:00am at St. John Missionary Baptist Church,1401 East Brundage Lane.
