Donald P. Lewis(1924 - 2013)

Donald P. Lewis June 23, 1924 - February 11, 2013 After dealing with ill-health for two years, our Lord and Savior took Don peacefully home. He was born and raised on the family farm in Verdon, Nebraska. As a young man, he served in the Merchant Marines during WWII, of which he was very proud. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, incredible humor, and chocolate candy, that he shared with all. Known to many as the "candy man", Don knew no strangers. As a Picacho Baptist church member, he was lovingly known as "Mr. Don". His greatest joy was sharing his faith. Don is survived by his wife Maxine; children, Barbara Froehlich (Jim), Donna Johnson (Mel); sister, Nancy Heimer (Harvey); grandchildren, Gaylene Patrick (Pat), Diana Knox (Cory), Krystal Lewis, Jim Froehlich, Jassen Froehlich (Stacy), Justin Johnson, Jessica Navejas (Tony), Holly Castle, and 18 great-grandchildren. Don was predeceased by sons, Bobby Lewis and Jim Castle; siblings, Josephine Howard and Gene Lewis. A graveside service will be conducted at a later date in Verdon, Nebraska. Placed in the care of J. Warren Funeral Services, Mt. View Chapel.
