GENEVA INEZ COX TRAMMELL(1924 - 2013)

GENEVA INEZ COX TRAMMELL May 1, 1924 - May 12, 2013 Geneva Inez Cox Trammell was born May 1, 1924, on a small farm in Bennington, Oklahoma, the first-born child of Lester and Della Cox. She graduated Valedictorian from Bokchito High. On February 12, 1946, she married Horace Clinton Trammell while he was on leave from the U.S. Navy. They were happily married until his passing in 1992. In 1953, they moved with their two children to Bakersfield, California, where four more children were born. Geneva worked in retail sales for many years. Though it meant standing for hours each day in high heels, she loved her job because she delighted in being with people. She retired from Gottschalk's in 1988. Geneva was devoted to her family. She was the epitome of patience, fortitude, and selflessness. She was proud of and grateful for her children and grandchildren. Even up to her final weeks, she would remark about how glad she was to have such a nice family. Geneva loved the Lord, and throughout her life served Him-- singing in the church choir, teaching Sunday School, running the church nursery, sitting on various committees, or as a tireless prayer warrior. She was a faithful member of Valley Baptist Church where stayed active in women's groups and taught Sunday School until her health declined in 2004. She also deeply loved her church family and the many friends she made over the years. Geneva was a Godly woman, devoted wife, and precious mother and grandmother. She was greeted in heaven on Mother's Day, May 12, 2013, by her parents; husband; daughter, Debra Thompson; grandson, Caleb Thompson; brothers Eugene, Glenn, George A., and wife May Cox; sisters Billie Janice Berry and husband Tom, Shirley Ann Yandell and husband Clarence; brother-in-law Geza Banko; nephew Ricky Hawkins, and niece Teresa Cox. She is survived by her son Sam and wife Sandra Trammell; daughters and their spouses Susan and Barry Young, Brenda and Robert Thompson, Lisa and Jonathan Boles, Lora and Troy Coppola; son-in-law Randy Thompson; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Charles Cox; sisters Judy Banko, and Jessie Mae and David Hawkins; sisters-in-law Shirley Cox, Maude Lena and Wilbur Smith, and Betty Jo Trammell; brother-in-law Boyce and Carolyn Trammell, and numerous nieces and nephews.
