Gladys Lorraine Boivin-Hall(1919 - 2013)

Gladys Lorraine Boivin-Hall December 19, 1919 - August 31, 2013 Gladys Boivin-Hall passed away peacefully in her sleep on 08-31-2013. Gladys was born in Marcus, South Dakota the eighth child of Edwin and Anna Thompson. She attended high school in Iowa and graduated from Mounds Midway School of Nursing in St. Paul, Minnesota. It was in St. Paul that she met and married Walter Boivin. Together they had eleven children. They lived in Delano for 30 years, which is where they raised their children. Gladys was an active member of the Right to Life Organization and the Young Ladies Institute of St. Mary's Church in Delano and at St. Philip in Bakersfield. She and her husband were members of the Smooth Dancers of Visalia and Fresno. She was a worldwide traveler who took trips to Europe, China, The Philippines, Ireland, Norway, the Caribbean and Suez Canal as well as almost all states of the USA including Alaska and multiple trips to Hawaii. Gladys and Walter were married for 60 years when he passed away in 2002. In the summer of 2004, shortly before she turned 85, she attended a High School class reunion in Forest City, Iowa with her sister, Ruth. It is there that she became reacquainted with Harold Hall, her high school sweetheart. They were married April 16, 2005. Gladys is survived by her husband, Harold Hall, who filled the last years of her life with love and happiness. She is also survived by her eight daughters: Marilyn King, Kathie Brindle and husband Robert, Rosalie Smith and husband Larry, Dori Gross, Carol Boivin, Linda Miller and husband Robert, Betty Benoit and husband Mark, and Laurie Boivin; her three sons Mike Boivin, Larry Boivin and wife Anita, Ronald Boivin and wife Alice; step-son, David Hall and wife Karan and step-daughter Marilyn Kruse and husband Darrell. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In addition Gladys' survivors include her sisters Ruth Barlow and Rosalie Maxwell and brothers Irvin Thompson and Francis Thompson. Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Pacifica Senior Living for the warm love and care they lavished on Mom and Harold. Viewing from 4 - 8 p.m. and recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 5th at Greenlawn Southwest, 2739 Panama Lane. Services will be held on Friday, September 6th at 10 am at St. Philip Catholic Church, 7100 Stockdale Hwy. Internment at Greenlawn Southwest, following service. Reception will follow at St. Philip's.
