Kenneth Roger Blair(1938 - 2013)

Kenneth Roger Blair June 29, 1938 - June 29, 2013 The Lord decided that on this milestone day that He would sit and celebrate Ken Blair's 75th birthday with him and together they would look down and bless us all. Service for Ken will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, McGovern Hall, 1800 Bedford, Bakersfield at 11:00 on Friday, July 5, 2013. Ken was born in Lansing, Michigan on June 29, 1938 to Henry and Virginia Blair. After graduating from high school, he joined the Navy and saw much of the world. After the Navy he spent several years wondering the U. S. living from Florida to Alaska. He moved to Bakersfield in 1963 and loved the warm weather and bright sunshine. Ken could remember jokes and stories like no other and loved to tell them. He had a wonderful voice and had hundreds of songs tucked away that he could sing at the drop of a hat. He spent many hours at the old piano bar in the Padre singing. Ken is survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy, one brother, Jim of Michigan, 3 children, Brad of Colorado, Brenda of Montana and Michele of Bakersfield and nine grandchildren, Brian, Charlene, Drake, Roman, Kara, Cody, Spencer, Logan and Gabrielle and his faithful and loving dog, Little Orphan Annie who, when weather permitted went everywhere with him. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Brian and his parents. One of Ken's proudest accomplishments was 24 years of sober living through the program of Alcoholics Anonymous. Ken loved dogs and over the years many found a home at his house. Instead of flowers, please send donations to: Marley's Mutts, 22201 Amberwood Ct. Tehachapi, CA 93561. www.bakersfield.com/obits
