Lillian Annis(1917 - 2013)

Lillian Annis September 3, 1917 - September 20, 2013 Lillian Leona Annis was born September 3, 1917 to Emma and Daniel Mettler in Hollywood, CA. She passed away peacefully at home on the morning of September 20, 2013 at the age of 96. Lillian graduated from Santa Maria High School in 1936 and married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence Annis in 1937. Lillian and Lawrence farmed potatoes near Arvin for several years early in their marriage. Later they moved to Bakersfield where she began her long career in sales, beginning with Avon and Shaklee products. In 1972 they began a successful business as Nature's Sunshine Distributors and then opened the Health Pump Vitamin Store on Niles Street. Lillian was an avid believer in herbs and vitamins and she loved her shop and customers. Assisted by her long-time friend Margaret Hayes, Lillian continued to work at her shop daily until the age of 95 when she had a stroke in May of this year. The Health Pump is now owned and operated by her son, Alan Annis. Lillian was a long time member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. Lillian was a woman with a strong work ethic, a deep faith and a loving devotion to her family and friends. She is survived by her son Alan Annis, of Bakersfield; daughter and son-in-law Connie and Dale Hayes of Castaic; four grandchildren Kelly (Annis) Day and husband Art Day of Cedar Creek, TX, Brian Annis of Bakersfield, Adam Hayes and wife Candice of San Diego, and Sara Hayes of Castaic; and five beloved great grandchildren Emilie and Regan Annis, Chloe and Emma Day, and Noah Hayes. In lieu of flowers her family requests donations be made to Hoffman Hospice of Bakersfield in appreciation of their loving care. Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306 on Thursday, September 26 at 11 a.m Chapel will open at 9:00 a.m. for viewing. www.bakersfield.com/obits
