Madeline Oneida Schmidt(1925 - 2012)

Madeline Oneida Schmidt December 19, 1925 - October 3, 2012 Madeline Oneida Schmidt was born on December 19, 1925 and went to be with the Lord on October 3, 2012. Madeline was born in English Indiana to Georgia and Lloyd Sacksteder. In 1942 at the tender age of 17 she became a war bride to the love of her life, Charles John Schmidt. In January 1949, they packed up their three kids, Chuck, Paula and Steven and moved to Bakersfield California. There they had two more children, Charline and Mary. The joy of her life was raising her five children, family gatherings and supporting her husband in his business ventures. Her favorite sport was "Bingo" and she played it as often as she could. She was a member of The Rock Church for thirty years where she attended with her best friend, Lois. She loved to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events. She had a sense of humor like no other and always had a bright outlook on the future. She always saw the best in everyone and never would give up on you! Her favorite scripture was Romans 8:28 and she loved her God! On August 8, 2012, Charles and Madeline celebrated their 70th Anniversary. Madeline is survived by her loving husband Charles Schmidt, her sister Virginia Spring and her brother Darrell Sacksteder. Her 5 children and their spouses, Chuck Schmidt, Paula Schmidt, Steven and Danette Schmidt, Charline and Edward Barger and Mary and Brad Safley. Also, ten grandchildren, Burton, Shanie, Brandi, Chad, Ryan, Jered, Casey, Chris, Cameron and Cheyenne and nine great grandchildren, Rachel, Caleb, Jacob, Hannah, Riley, Reagan, Clayton, Jaden, Cambria & one great-great-grandchild, Parker. The family would like to thank their caregivers, Laura and Linda for their love and kindness for Madeline. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 10th at The Rock Church at 7737 Meany Avenue, Bakersfield, CA. Pastor Edward Barger will officiate. Internment will be at the Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin, CA at 1:15 PM. Dad, we thank you for your undying love and support towards Mom these many years. You are our HERO!
