Martha Clare Adam(1927 - 2007)

Martha Clare Adam, age 79, went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2007. She was born October 17, 1927 in Duluth, Minnesota but was a resident of Bakersfield for over 50 years. She worked as a paralegal for the firm of Young, Woolridge, Paulden and Self for 20 years up until her retirement nine years ago. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family. Many family vacations were spent visiting California's state parks. Martha's favorite times were the times she and her family spent at a quaint Lake Tahoe cabin. Martha had many friends throughout her life time. Many she made while she played tennis and was a member of Northside Tennis Club and the Bakersfield Racquet Club. In her golden years, she enjoyed playing bridge as well as making new acquaintances and was a regular at the Kern City Bridge Club and Bakersfield Bridge Club. If there was a true, diehard California Angels fan, it was Martha. It is not certain if she ever attended an Angels' game, but it is certain she did not miss too many televised games. Even when her memory was failing, she still could keep up with the players' names and statistics and never lost hope that they would win another World Series. Martha is survived by her sister, Gloria McKusick and her husband, Bob of Santa Rosa; her sons, Bill Adam and his wife Mindy of Bakersfield; Richard Adam and his wife, Denise of Twin Falls, Idaho; Tom Adam and his wife, Debbie of Hanford, CA; her daughter Barbara Frey and her husband, Rodney of Riverside, CA; her grandchildren, Amber Adam, Toby Adam, Jim Adam, Nickolas Adam, and Allison Frey. A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place Thursday, February 22nd, 2:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Road. Martha Clare Adam Oct. 17, 1927 - Feb. 2, 2007
