Muriel Hinds Woody(1919 - 2013)

Muriel Hinds Woody March 14, 1919 - September 28, 2013 Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Muriel Hinds Woody of Woody, CA, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 28th, at the golden age of 94. This "city gal", born March 14, 1919, in Alameda, CA, became a "country girl" after moving to the small mountain town of Woody to marry the love of her life, S. Ward Woody, in 1941. During their 59 wonderful years of marriage, they thanked God each day for the strength needed to maintain the legacy of the family ranch founded in 1862, contribute to the integrity of the cattle industry, raise their hardworking sons, and faithfully serve their community. One of her proudest accomplishments was serving as the longtime Secretary to the Blake School District. In addition to serving as the former President of the Kern County Cow Belles, she was a devoted member of the Elberon Christian Church. Muriel has now returned home to reunite with Ward, who passed away in 2001, and we know she is smiling. She is survived by her sister Barbara Getz of Alameda, two sons Ronald (and his wife April) and Gerald, four grandchildren (Traci, Travis, Gavin, & Kirstin), and four great grandchildren (Jacob, Sarah, Alexis & Sienna). We appreciate Hoffman Hospice for their invaluable support, and are especially grateful to Maria from Around the Clock for her accompaniment and friendship with Muriel - as well as Irma - who showed her immense compassion for the past year. The Woody family invites all who loved and admired Muriel to join them in celebrating her life on Tuesday, October 8th. Services begin at 10:30am at the Blue Mountain Cemetery, and a gathering will take place thereafter at Woody Community Hall. DOUGHTY-CALHOUN-O'MEARA
