RC Austin(1925 - 2013)

RC Austin June 14, 1925 - February 26, 2013 RC Austin, 87, passed away early on 26 February 2013 at his home in Bakersfield. RC was born to Claud and Addie Mae Austin on 14 June 1925 in Caney, OK. RC served in the U.S. Army during WWII, 1943 to 1946, in the Pacific. After an Honorable Discharge, RC relocated to California, where he met and married the love of his life, the late Norma Lee Williams Austin. RC worked in the construction industry for 18 years and was a member of the Plasterers & Lathers Union. RC also worked for the Standard School District in the maintenance department, retiring in June of 1990 to have more time to camp, fish and spoil his grandchildren. RC was a Christian and attended the Oildale Assembly of God Church for many years until his health kept him confined to his home. RC is survived by his son Stanley "Mike" Austin and wife Barbara of Ridgecrest, CA. His granddaughter Tiffany K Austin of Las Vegas, NV and his grandson Stanley M Austin also of Ridgecrest, CA. RC is also survived by his daughter Carolyn Fitzwater of Tehachapi, granddaughters Tory (Kenny) White of Atoka, TN, Shelly Sprouse of Bakersfield, and Darcey (Rich) Oldhafer of Saugus, CA, and 5 great-grandchildren, Jordon, Hallie, Moriah, Alexis, and Jack. RC was proceeded in death by his wife of over 57 years, Norma, his parents, all 6 siblings, son-in-law Terry Fitzwater, and brother-in-laws Cecil White and Jimmy Williams. Viewing will be Monday, 4 March 2013, at the Greenlawn Mortuary on River Road from 9:00 am until 12 noon. Graveside services will be Monday, 4 March 2013, at Hillcrest, at 2:00 pm.
