Robert Natividad Mahinan Sr.(1946 - 2012)

Robert Natividad Mahinan Sr. December 11, 1946 - October 13, 2012 Robert Natividad Mahinan Sr. born December 11, 1946 was surrounded by loved ones when he surrendered to be with our heavenly father on October 13, 2012. Robert, 2nd son of 10 children was born to Jasminia and the late Melecio Mahinan in Ilocos Norte, Philippines. His final resting place was made here in Bakersfield where he resided in the last 32 years. During his time here on earth, he worked in the field of Science and Agriculture in plant genetics, with the commitment in research and development, specializing in cross breeding and pollinating in various produce and melon species. He operated with companies such as Bayer, Asgrow, Belridge Farms, and lastly, United Genetics Seed Corporation. Through decades of experience, devotion and brilliance flourished through his work, yielding results in every product he developed until his retirement. He enjoyed the simplicity in life, such as walks around the neighborhood, befriending strangers, reading literature, crossword puzzles, and watching basketball, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune. His progressive ailing health never deterred his spirit and strength. His determination was possible with the love and support provided by his children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and friends. He worked hard to provide for his family and quality of life. Through his wisdom, knowledge, and life experiences of the bible, his morals and values inspired his children by making them what they are today. He is survived by his wife, Marietta Mahinan Sr., his children: Rodrigo, Abegail and husband Simon, Hazel, Marietta II, Robert II and wife Jennifer, and Sharon, his grandchildren: Khaiyon, Keiolani, Uriah, Daland, Stephen Jr., Solei, Nevaeh, Sione, Stella, and soon to arrive Baby Samantha Lee. Robert also leaves behind 9 siblings with one he will meet in heaven, and many nieces and nephews who all loved him very much. The viewing will be held at Greenlawn Mortuary Southwest, 2739 Panama Lane, on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. Church service will be held at Saint Phillips Apostle Church, 7100 Stockdale Hwy, on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. The memorial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery Southwest, 2739 Panama Lane. Special thanks to all of our family members who had contributed their time and efforts in support of our father in his last days with us and to all family and friends who continue praying for him and our family. We are forever grateful and we love you all. Before he passed, our beloved father said all he wishes is for a loving family. John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." We Miss and Love You Very Much Dad! Momma, Rodrigo, Abegail, Hazel, Marietta II, Robert II, and Sharon.
