Rosemary Duffy(1926 - 2013)

Rosemary Duffy June 19, 1926 - May 20, 2013 Rosemary Duffy was born in Indianola, Pennsylvania on June 19th, 1926. She was the fourth of seven children born to her parents, Bert and Erminia Ruggieri, who immigrated from Italy. Rosemary graduated from her high school in 1943 and was trained by the FBI as a fingerprint technician. Later, she moved to Los Angeles, and worked at night for the Los Angeles Police Department as a fingerprint technician while attending UCLA during the day. She graduated from UCLA in 1952 with a degree in Sociology and was employed with Los Angeles County as a probation officer. Rosemary met Jack Duffy at a Catholic Alumni dance in Los Angeles, and they were married in 1962. Their marriage produced three wonderful children: John, Susan, and Mariann. After working for many years in Bakersfield in Child Protective Services, Rosemary retired with her husband Jack, and they traveled the world together. At the age of 65, she obtained her Master's Degree in History at California State University, Bakersfield. When Rosemary and Jack turned 70, they decided to take up ballroom dancing and duplicate bridge. Rosemary is survived by her husband, Jack, son and daughter-in-law, John and Marketa, daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Frank, and daughter and son-in-law, Mariann and Patrick, as well as six grandchildren: Megan, Gavin, Niall, Franklin, Ryan, and Kylie. A mass service will be held at Saint Timothy's Catholic Church in Laguna Niguel on Wednesday, May 29th, at 10 A.M., with a reception following. Rosemary was a true inspiration to everyone who was fortunate to know her.
