Roy Andrew Belluomini June 6, 1924 - December 13, 2013 WWII Veteran Roy was born on June 6,1924 in Bakersfield, California and passed into eternity in the arms of his loving Heavenly Father on December 13, 2013. He married the love of his life Bruna Pera, November 26, 1944. He lived in Buttonwillow for 89 years which he called "God's Country". Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio & Gema Belluomini, in-laws Gino & Richetta Pera, brothers Elmo & George, sister Edna Torrigiani and brother-in-law Frank Torrigiani, brother-in-law Woody Hoggard and sister-in-law Dolly Hoggard, brother-in-law Jim Giovannetti, nephews Snookie Giovannetti, and Tom & Tony Belluomini. Roy attended Buttonwillow Elementary, Emerson Jr. High and Kern Union High School. Roy was a WWII veteran and proudly served in the Army's 302nd Combat Engineer Division from 1945-46 as a sergeant in charge of the motor pool in its first occupation in Sapporo, Japan. Roy was a farmer for over 60 years with his family, growing many different crops. However, his true love & passion was growing cotton. He participated in many services to his community. He served on the Buttonwillow School Board for 18 years, Board of Director at Community First Bank and Westamerica Bank for a number of years. In addition, he served for 26 years as a Board of Director on the Buena Vista Water Storage District. Roy was commander of the American Legion Post 674 for 2 years and had been a member since 1946. For 10 years, he served on the Italian Heritage Board. In 2012, Roy and Bruna served as Fall Farm Festival Grand Marshalls in Buttonwillow. Roy was an avid golfer and loved to fish, hunt & fly. He always looked forward to going to his beach home in Shell Beach with his wife every other weekend but was always anxious to get back to the farm. He enjoyed his numerous trips to Hawaii with his wife and family. Roy was a man of honesty, integrity and trustworthiness. His work ethic was exemplary and always set a wonderful role model for his family and community. His four grandsons and seven great-grandchildren were his pride & joy and they loved their Nonno Roy. We as a family were blessed with a wonderful Husband, Dad, & Nonno. He will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed. He was the real deal. Roy is survived by his loving wife Bruna, daughter Sandy Torigiani and son-in-law Mike, daughter Pam Klassen and son-in-law Phil, 4 grandsons, Steve Torigiani and wife Sarah, Jim Torigiani and wife Michelle, Matthew Klassen and wife Allison, Christopher Klassen and wife Jennie, 7 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Mia and Santino Torigiani and Dylan, Camryn, Jake and Conner Klassen, aunt, Ella Banducci,sisters-in-laws, Julia Belluomini and Theresa Chicca and many nieces & nephews. Pallbearers are Steve & Jim Torigiani, Matthew & Christopher Klassen, Alan Hoggard, Kenny Torrigiani, Roger Giovannetti and Bryan Bridge. The family especially wishes to thank Dr. David Dougherty for his care and compassion during Roy's illness. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at noon Friday December 20th, 900 H St. and graveside service will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield, CA.
