Stephen Wilhelmsen(1941 - 2013)

Stephen Wilhelmsen 1941-2013 Stephen 'Steve' Wilhelmsen, 71, passed away June 25, 2013 in Bakersfield, CA. Steve was born November 21, 1941 in Visalia, CA to the late Paul and Georgia Wilhelmsen. He graduated from Redwood High School and the College of the Sequoias where he excelled in golf and basketball. In 1964, he was drafted to the U.S. Army, attending boot camp at Fort Ord and then serving as a Communications Specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Saigon, Vietnam. After his service, he married Cheryl Hassett in 1965 and had two daughters. He was employed for 28 years at Pacific Bell as an Engineering and Construction Manager, retiring in 1994.Steve moved to Bakersfield in 1996. He had a very successful second career as a Programmer for Kern County Superior Court. There, he met and later married Maudie Rhea in 2005. After retiring in 2008, he enjoyed travelling and spending time in Morro Bay. Steve is survived by his wife, Maudie, two daughters, Cheree and Juli, two grandsons, Ethan and Ryan, two step-daughters, Deann and Debbie, and a sister, Lisa. Steve lived a full life and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered for the impact he had on his family and friends.
