Virginia Busey(1921 - 2013)

Virginia Busey October 15, 1921 -May 5, 2013 Virginia Busey went to be with the Lord surrounded by family on May 5, 2013. She was born on October 15, 1921, in Shreveport, LA. She married the love of her life, Delmar Busey, in June 1943. They were avid golfers and played golf every chance they could get. They were also seasonal ticket holders to the Oklahoma Sooners and went to every game. She was a homemaker until her husband passed away in 1975. In 1976, she got her real estate license and sold houses for a couple years. She then took secretarial classes and became a receptionist at a filter company. She helped her sister and niece open up a travel agency. This job opened up opportunities to travel all over the world. She walked the Wall of China, stood under the Eiffel Tower, and saw the changing of guards at the Queens Palace in London. She returned to Tulsa and went back to work at the same filter company for another year and then retired. She then began to do what she loved: paint, play golf, and play bridge. In 2002, she moved to Bakersfield to be closer to her daughter. She said on numerous occasions she loved being here because she was able to see her family almost everyday. She enjoyed watching all sports on tv and became a Nascar fan, Kevin Harvick was her favorite driver. What she enjoyed most was visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would say these little ones keep me going. Ginny is survived by her three children: Gary Busey and Steffani, her daughter Carol Barraza and husband Pete, son David Busey and wife Jan. Her grandchildren Jake Busey and April, Vanessa Hunt and husband Paul, Sean Busey and fiancee Jennifer, Cara Ruiz and husband Sam, Alectra Busey, and Luke Busey. Her great grandchildren, the joy of her life are: Maiden, Rhylee, Rome, Sammy, and Autumn. She lived a beautiful fulfilled life and will be missed by her many family and friends. A special thanks to Dr. Edward Nichols and staff, the Heart Hospital, and Optimal Hospice for the care and love they showed her. Also, a big thank you to Martha Jackson and Lupe Barraza who were always there to assist and care for our mother until the very end. We also want to thank Kern River Family Mortuary for being so kind and understanding.
