Wanita Ashley(.)

Wanita Ashley 1926 - 2013 Wanita Ashley, our loving mother, was born August 15, 1926 in Bakersfield, California to Zina and Bernice Murray. She departed this life on June 1, 2013 in Fresno, California. She graduated from East Bakersfield High School and Lufkin's Business College, then worked as a secretary. Soon she met and married Ed Ashley, her husband of 42 years. Together they raised three daughters while running their own successful business, Ashley's Hillcrest Jewelry. Our mom loved to crochet and left us many beautiful and useful keepsakes. She was kind and generous, loved spending time with her family, going shopping and out to eat, and relaxing at the beach. Wanita resided at Columbus Estates for over nine years before moving to Fresno where she lived at Hillcrest Golden Living. We wish to give special thanks to Lucille Epperson and her caring staff at Hillcrest for taking such good care of Mom, especially Frances, Rosa, Sally, Jamie, Lovepreet, and Jasmine. Our gratitude also goes to Aesera Care Hospice for their efforts and kindnesses on Mom's behalf. Wanita was preceded in death by her husband Ed and her parents. She is survived by her children, Jane Williams of Bakersfield, Sue and Bob May of Casper, Wyoming, and Marlene and Mark Weddendorf of Fresno. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Tamara Ashley Parker of Denver, Natalie and Joel Sadler of Phoenix, Arizona, and Reggie Williams of Bakersfield. She is missed also by her sister Mabel Martini of Bakersfield and nieces Jean Karr and Sherri Salcido of Bakersfield. No services will be held, as per Mom's wishes. Arrangements are by Neptune Society. No services will be held as per my mom's wishes. www.bakersfield.com/obits
