Dale Yeargan Obituary

Dale Ervin Yeargan December 13, 1925 - November 25, 2010 Dale Ervin Yeargan was born on December 13, 1925, in Compton, CA, to Ervin and Lorene Yeargan. Dale graduated from Excelsior High School, class of 1943. Soon after Dale enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, Navy, and Marine Reserves and served his country proudly in WWII and the Korean War. In 1946 he married LaVida Cox and had 2 children. They later divorced in 1966. He then met and married Barbara Plumley in June of 1967 and had 3 children. Dale and Barbara were residents of the Lake Isabella area, Taft and later resided in Bakersfield. Dale was employed with Kern County Supervisor of Prison Road Camps, Sheriff Rescue Posse, and Lake Patrol. He was also a Kern County Judge in Lake Isabella and surrounding areas, where he was known as the "Beer Can Judge". Finally, he was area park supervisor at Buena Vista Lakes until his retirement in 1977. Dale did odd jobs to help support his growing family. He truly didn't retire until 1987. Dale was the 32nd degree mason, a member of Lodge #827 Kern River Valley, Royal Arch, Shiner's Club, Lion's Club Kern River Valley and VFW Kern River Valley. Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Lorene Yeargan; brother, Donald Yeargan; and ex-wife, LaVida Cox Yeargan Romero. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Barbara Yeargan; sons, Chris Dale Yeargan and wife, Sparkle of North Dakota; Russell Alan Yeargan and wife, Sherry of Sacramento, and Dale Yeargan Jr. of Bakersfield; daughters, Charisse Sarandria and Tina Sporer and husband, Ken, both of Bakersfield; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a graveside service on Friday, December 3, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd. Thank you to Optimal Hospice and the Kern Valley Masons for all your care and support.
