My brother Mel and I spent a lot of time with Roger in our high school years. His antics would bring a smile to my grandma's face - not easily done. Evil Kinevil had nothing on our Vicious Kinicious. Mel take good care of him, show him around his new place.....Debby Young Mooneyham

I've known Roger since we were Explorers together at the Sheriff's Department, many moons ago. Although we haven't been close over the last several years, I still count him as a good friend. Rest easy Roger, it's sad to see you go.

It was with much sadness that I learned of Rogers passing. I met Roger in 1979 when I transferred to BPD. The memories, stories, and great times we shared were numerous. My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to all of his family. The end just comes too soon.

I met Roger back in 1978, we were both new at the BPD. Little did I know that his family would be such an important part of my life. My heart goes out to his children and wife, Lori, my great friends, Bill and Ginger Atchley, Louise Ott and all the extended family. Connie Chiuppi Bollard

To Brandon & Samantha, Lori & family of Roger,
We are so shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of your dad. We had so many fun times with Roger. (I, Susie, still have my "get out of jail pass" business card he signed and gave to me & everyone was jealous!) Our hearts are heavy for you. Please contact us if we can do anything for you at this time.
You are all in our prayers...

I remember Sgt Ott providing much-needed encouragement to me during Defensive Tactics in the Police Academy. He saw my name on my shirt and introduced himself and reminded me our dad's were old friends. Afterwards, one of my Field Training Officers pointed out a mural on a building downtown. The running joke was one of the characters in the mural looked just like Sgt Ott. I think of him every time I drive by that mural. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I met Roger thirty years ago when I was a rookie police officer. Roger had been on the department two years longer than me and during that time period, anyone with two or three years of patrol experience was considered a seasoned veteran. Roger helped guide me through the landmine of potential problems all rookies face during their first year and we became good friends. Years later, we became detective partners. Looking back on my 25-year career, I can say that it was without a doubt my most enjoyable time on the force. Roger had a contagious laugh and an unbeatable sense of humor.
Rest in peace my friend; God knows I am going to miss you.
