Joyce Marie Preston April 17, 1936 - September 25, 2010 Visitation for Joyce Marie Preston will be held at Mission Family Mortuary, (531 California Ave), on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 10:00am to 5:00pm, and funeral services will be held in the Mission Family Mortuary Chapel on September 30, 2010 at 10:00am, followed by graveside services at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary at 11:30am. Joyce Marie Preston was born April 17, 1936 in Stuart, Iowa. She was one of two children born to Dewitt L. Lowe and Ruby E. Dalzell. Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Jerry; and by her five children, Connie Cook, Pam Cravens, Donald Preston, Terrie Shereen, Tommy Preston, and nephew Dennis Burtch. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister Barbara Burtch. Her family was most important and she cherished being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending all the events she could. In her retirement from the County of Kern, Joyce enjoyed her travels to Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii, and especially Washington to visit her favorite aunt, Lula May. Laughlin and Reno trips with Jerry and his brother, Jean, became favorite pastimes as well as attending Garces and Davis football games. The Preston family wishes to thank those at San Joaquin Hospital who provided tender care, as well as our good neighbors, especially Becky Whitton. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Hoffman Hospice.
