Marvin Wood Obituary

Marvin Oliver Wood 1941 - 2010 A memorial service will be held at Mish Funeral Home, 120 Minner Ave. on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. for Marvin Oliver Wood. Marvin was born June 6, 1941 in McIntosh County, Oklahoma and he passed away on October 2, 2010 in Bakersfield, CA. He was the youngest son in a family with ten children. He lived most of his life in Bakersfield. In his earlier years he worked as a truck driver while later he worked as a janitor for the Bakersfield School District. If you needed a ride somewhere or your car fixed, Marvin was the man to call. He was a friend to many and could be counted on in tough situations. With the patience to teach others and allow them to learn their own lessons, Marvin was loved by many and will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Marion Wood; his ex wife Nancy Mahan; his sons, Melvin and Michael Wood; his siblings, Martha Underhill, Wanda Barr, Vernie Hale, Ordress Slaton, Bill Wood, and Dewey Wood. He is survived by his daughters, and their spouses Cathy and Dennis Bird, Susan Wood and Bimbo Aguero; his nine grandchildren, Chris, BJ, Millie, Amy, Brandon, Brittney, Robert, Savanna, and Breana; as well as several great grandchildren and his siblings and their spouses Betty and Bob Lightfield, Jonah and Hazel Wood, and Dorothy Riddle.
