Fawnita Kennedy Obituary

Fawnita K. Kennedy December 23, 1946 - August 2, 2012 Fawnita was born in Watsonville, California, to Calvin E. Kennedy and Wilma L. Pettitt Kennedy. She departed this life after a brave fight with numerous illnesses. Fawnita was best known for her artistic abilities, winning numerous awards at the Kern County Fair. She made a variety of crafts, including wooden toys and creations of Native American design. Fawnita was the family historian, becoming interested in this during her membership in the LDS Church. She spent thousands of hours researching the family history, even traveling to other states in pursuit of the family lineage. Fawnita was a member of Daughters of the Confederacy and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was extremely proud of her Irish and Native American heritage, with Wiccocomico-Cherokee on both sides of her family. She loved her family dearly and was blessed with many wonderful friends, all of whom gave her laughter and memories she cherished. Fawnita was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Kalyn Garza Amador (Gilbert); stepchildren Cindy Garza Cachu, Tony Garza (Carla), Mario Garza and Alfred Garza, Jr.; grandchildren Destini Mello (Jesse), Starla Scott, and Gerard Scott, Jr.; greatgrandson Dominic Mello; her sisters Dawn Kennedy and Fawn Dessy (Ron); and numerous nieces and a nephew. In honor of Fawnita's wishes, she was cremated and her ashes will be later interred alongside those of her beloved parents at Greenlawn Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on August 9, 2012, at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Avenue. "May your love soar on the wings of a dove in flight..." www.bakersfield.com/obits

My grandma was such a special lady. She was like my mother. We had so many fun times together. I couldnt thank her enough for loving me as much as she did. I'm so happy she got to meet her great grandson. She loved him very much. She was the coolest Grandmother that ever lived. I will always cherish all of our time we spent together. Love you Gammy. Until we meet again~~
