Aaron Matthew Hafeli Bashirtash Obituary
Aaron Matthew Hafeli Bashirtash July 30, 1995 - July 18, 2013 Known as simply 'Aaron', this sweet young man was called to Heaven unexpectedly on July 18, 2013. Aaron was a class of 2013 graduate of Stockdale High where he ran cross country. He was anxiously looking forward to his upcoming Minecraft themed 18th birthday celebration as well as getting his license to finally get behind the wheel of his first car. He loved tennis, video gaming, snowboarding and was an avid guitar player, inspired by artists such as Muse, Green Day, and Cold Play. He absolutely was the epitome of a great son, a loving cousin, a joy of a nephew, a dedicated grandson, and a true friend. He was the nucleus of his extensive family and leaves an irreparable vacancy in their lives. Aaron was born in Bakersfield and attended Stockdale and McAuliffe Elementaries, Earl Warren Jr. High, and Stockdale High School. He had a heart of gold and a sense of humor reminiscent of his grandfather, Gary Hafeli, Sr. He was enrolled to begin classes at Bakersfield College in the Fall. He was looking forward to beginning his life as an adult, pursuing a career in Gaming Design, and eventually creating a career and life in New York City. As an infant, Aaron left quite an impression on anyone who held him-literally-as he was a biter! As a toddler, he is remembered as being a Teletubbies fan. As a child, he is remembered as being a formidable Pokeman tournament contender. As a young man, he is remembered as a budding gentleman holding the promise and potential to continue bringing pride and happiness to the family and many others who continue loving him. Aaron is preceded in death by his grandfather, Gary L. Hafeli Sr., and his aunt, Sandra Hafeli. He is survived by his mother and father, Diane and Reza Bashirtash. Also, his father and mother, Jeremy and Christina Contreras, four siblings, Tara and Ryan Bashirtash, Eric and Caleb Contreras, his Grandparents Dimna Dela Cruz Hafeli, Fred and Irma Contreras, Mike and Linda Harris, numerous aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, his lifelong best friend, Ankit Patel, and innumerable extended family and friends. Services for Aaron will begin with a viewing Tuesday, July 23 at Greenlawn Southwest at 3 pm for family only, and 4-8 pm for the public. On Wednesday, July 24th, the memorial service will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Church at 9:30 am in the chapel, with the funeral procession to follow and burial at Southwest Greenlawn Cemetery at noon. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Petroleum Club at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Aaron Hafeli Bashirtash Scholarship fund established through Mission Bank of Bakersfield. www.bakersfield.com/obits
