Aileen (Rowe) Fiscus

1925 - 2016 Obituary Condolences

A funeral service will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. for Aileen (Rowe) Fiscus and interment will follow at the West Side District Cemetery. Aileen passed away on January 8, 2016 at her home after a long journey with Alzheimers. Her son, Jim, was at her side when our Lord called her home. Aileen was born in Maricopa, CA on June 16, 1925 to John and Sarah Rowe. She was the second born, having an older brother, Jack and younger twin brothers who died soon after birth. At the age of two, her family moved to Pontiac, Michigan where her father took a job with General Motors. However, their dislike of Michigan's climate brought them back to Maricopa in 1929. Aileen would reside there for the rest of her life. She attended Maricopa schools from kindergarten through high school, graduating in 1943. She loved school and was active in many extra-curricular activities, such as, song leader, drama club and student council to name a few. Upon graduating, she took employment with Gifford and Wilson Hardware in Taft and then the Norwalk Oil Refinery in Maricopa. Her favorite job was that of being a waitress at Munding's Cafe in Maricopa. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Robert Fiscus. The two were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 27, 1950. In 1952, they began construction of their new home in Maricopa; a new home they would love and live in for the rest of their days. In 1953, they welcomed their daughter, Suzy into their lives and the young family settled into their new home and enjoyed vacations by train to visit Robert's family in Pennsylvania. In early 1961, their son, Jim, was born and that would complete their family. Aileen was proud to be a stay-at-home mom and cared for her home and family with love and much attention to detail. She was a wonderful wife and mother who was well known for her gorgeous red hair and for always being, "well put together." After Robert's retirement from Chevron U.S.A. in 1983, they enjoyed extensive traveling, ballroom dancing and were active members in the American Legion Fellows Post. Aileen was a longtime member of the Camp Condor Board of Trustees. She was very active in the Maricopa PTA for over 20 years, American Legion/Emblem Club and a lifetime member and head Deaconess of the First Congregational Church of Maricopa.

Aileen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sarah Rowe, her brother, Jack and his wife, Evelyn Rowe, cousin, Lloyd and his wife, Jemima Rowe, and her husband, Robert Fiscus, who passed away in February 2012. The couple were happily married nearly 62 years. She is survived by her daughter, Suzy (LD) Armstrong and son, Jim Fiscus all of Taft; stepsons, Gary (Eileen) Fiscus of Virginia and Michael Fiscus of Pennsylvania; her grand-children include Christina Lindsay, Lacy Devora, Kenny and Derik Casparis, Kevin David and Mark Fiscus, and Emily Maze; and by her 12 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the , the West Kern Oil Museum or The Fort Preservation Society. Aileen was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

Those who wish to pay their respects for visitation may do so on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
