Alan George Davidson Obituary
Alan George Davidson December 1, 1950 - November 30, 2013 Alan George Davidson "Big Al" was born December 1, 1950, and went home to be with the Lord on November 30, 2013. Alan passed away on Saturday surrounded by loved ones. Born in Hanford to Corbin Burtis "Dave" and Ann Janice Davidson, his family moved to Bakersfield when he was four. His education was in Bakersfield, and he was a proud graduate of West High, class of 1968. In December 1971, Alan married the love of his life, Carol Wright. The two were blessed with 42 happy years of marriage and one daughter, Dana. After attending Bakersfield College, he graduated from CSUB with a B.S. in Business Administration. Ten days after graduating, Alan began his career with the Auto Club. Alan and Carol lived in the Long Beach area, and both worked in a variety of locations for the Auto Club throughout the Los Angeles area. He enjoyed vacationing with family and friends, spending time at their cabin in PMC, snow-skiing, water-skiing, golfing, motorcycling, biking, drag racing and football. Alan and Carol retired in 2010 with a combined 69 years of service. They followed their daughter and son-in-law back to Bakersfield and enjoyed being close to their family and friends. Alan delighted in spending time with his children, Dana and Kigen Kirui, and being "Pop-Pop" to his granddaughters, CaraAnn and Malaika. Alan was known for his impersonation of a dragster and Donald Duck. Alan will long be remembered for his welcoming personality, his ability to love everyone, and his great devotion to his family and faith in Jesus. Alan is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Dana; son, Kigen; granddaughters, CaraAnn and Malaika; mother, Janice; sisters, Ann and Florentino Castellon and Kay and John Bedingfield; Carol's mother, Francis; and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. Alan was preceded in death by his father, C.B. "Dave" Davidson; his uncle and namesake, Alan Davidson; and his father-in-law, Clifford Wright. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at 2:00 at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Lane, followed by a reception at Alan and Carol's home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for Carol to establish a scholarship fund for Kenyan children, something near to Alan's heart and our extended family in Kenya.
