Alberta Dantzler-Love-Jones

Alberta was born November 13, 1915 to the union of James Dantzler and Agnes Howard-Dantzler in Macon, Mississippi. Her early childhood was spent in Dumas, Arkansas. At an early age, she married Sylvester Love Sr. and to this union one child was born, Sylvester Love Jr. After the untimely death of Sylvester love Sr. she later met and married Lewis Jones. The family- Lewis, Alberta and Junior- relocated to Bakersfield, California. The move was good as the family grew with four additional children-Lewis N., Mearl Jean, Jennifer and Jerry Dewayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Sylvester Love Sr., and Lewis Jones. She was also preceded in death by her children Mearl Jean and Sylvester Jr., as well as her siblings James, Annie, Maple, and Lizzie and one grandson, Kenneth Love. Surviving Alberta to carry on her legacy are her children Lewis (Cheryl), Jennifer (Bill) and Jerry (Cassandra); 11 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; Great Great Grandchildren (one set of twins not yet born); a special Daughter-in-law, Bernice Jones; special friends Francis Tadiar and Magnolia Allen.
Being a granddaughter of former slaves, she was a woman bound in faith and determination. She dedicated 72 plus years to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She will be remembered and missed by family and friends.

There will be a viewing Friday, May 9, 2014, from 2-6 PM at Jesse E. Cooley Jr., Funeral Services, 1100 Chester Avenue, Bakersfield California. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 825 California Avenue, Bakersfield, California.
