Alessandro "Alex" Bertolucci was born September 28, 1947 in Tassignano, Lucca, Italy. He was six months old when his family moved to Bakersfield. On May 20, 2016, Alex went to spend eternity with his wife, Darlene, who passed away on January 15, 2015.
Alex graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. In 1974 he married the love of his life, Darlene De La Rosa. Alex and Darlene shared a special bond and remained devoted to one another for the entire 42 years of their marriage. In December of 2014, Alex retired from Sierra International after 25 years of employment. Alex enjoyed watching boxing, going to casinos, and spending time with his granddaughters whom he adored. Over the past 20 years he made numerous friends during his daily breakfast at Donna Kaye's Cafe.
Alex was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, and his parents, Pietro and Livia Bertolucci. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Veronica Bertolucci of Bakersfield; granddaughters Gabriana and Alina; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Glynn Parker of Los Osos, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Military Honors will follow at 10:45 a.m. at Bakersfield National Cemetery.
