Alexander D. Ornelas August 4, 1948 - December 21, 2012 Alexander "Alex" Ornelas was born in San Jose, CA to Isabel and Paula Ornelas. He grew up in Buttonwillow, graduating from Shafter High School. He worked for Getty Oil Co. staying on when it became Texaco and Chevron. Alex was a great husband, father and provider who loved his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends or strangers along the way. He was a strong, generous and positive person with a fun loving personality. His family and friends always had fun being with him and enjoyed listening to stories of his many adventures. He loved the mountains, hunting and traveling, especially enjoying cruises. Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Isabel and Paula and his sister Dolores. He is survived by his wife Bonnie; daughter and husband, Misty and Sam Coronado; brothers and their wives, Robert and Juanita Ornelas, Louis and Irene Ornelas, Arthur and Mary Lou Ornelas; sister and her husband, Baselisa and Ruben Pulido; mother- in-law and husband Miriam and Rexford Haddock; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alex's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. David Zisman and the MICU staff at Cottage Hospital of Santa Barbara for their wonderful care and concern. Rosary will be recited Thursday, December 27 at 6:00 p.m. at Doughty- Calhoun- O'Meara. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 28 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Church. Interment will follow at Shafter Cemetery.
