Alfredo Lara Subia Obituary
Alfredo Lara Subia "Fred", 58 of Bakersfield passed away January 18th, 2014 with his family by his side in Arroyo Grande, CA. He was born to the late Gilbert and Dora Subia, on January 22, 1955 in Bakersfield, CA.
He was preceded in death by his son John. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Annie, daughter Sabrina and Herminio Rodriguez, and sons Carlos and Carolyn Salazar, Ines and Sheryl Salazar, and Christopher and Ashley Salazar. He was "Papa" to eight grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and Rams buddies.
Fred was blessed by God with the gift of music. Although he played for East Side and Thin Ice, he is known best as lead singer and trumpet player for the band Aztlan for over 35 years. He honored many military veterans blowing "Taps" with his trumpet as an honor guard member. Fred was always smiling, joking, and having a good time. He was the kind of man who made a friend everywhere he went. He is now making friends in Heaven.
Viewing will be held at Hillcrest Memorial on Monday, January 27th from 4-8pm with a led prayer at 6:30pm. Mass will be Tuesday, January 28th at 9am at St. Francis Parish. He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial immediately following.
