Alicia Jacquez Reyes Obituary
Alicia Jacquez Reyes, 90, also loving known as Mama Licha, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 19 2014. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Pasqual Reyes and her son Isaac Reyes.
Alicia is survived by her six daughters Veronica Armendariz, Nina Pulido, Lydia Vasquez, Cruz Ramos, Rosario Reyes, and Susana Lewy; two sons Pascual Jr. Reyes, Marcos Reyes. She had 29 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
With her young family they immigrated from Mexico in 1954 and resided in Lamont. She raised 9 children and worked intermittently doing farm work and working in the local carrot shed until she retired. She was member of the United Farm Workers Union, and proudly became a U.S. citizen on 1994. In her pastimes she loved telling her grandchildren stories and singing songs from her youth. She enjoyed many trips with her husband Pascual, and her children continued to invite her to outings after his passing.
She loved her church and was a founding member and cursillo at St Augustine church in Lamont. Her daily ritual of praying her rosary each morning for the souls of purgatory never ceased. Her prayers and blessings were always sent to family each evening and she would not let anyone leave her home without a proper blessing. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren will remember her for her various sayings that they will never forget. "Okay Magay", Lo mio es mio, lo tuyo es tuyo" and the most endearing of them all, "Mi Vida, Mi Cielo, Mi Amor".
