Allan Porter Obituary
Allan died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, in Valencia after a short battle with cancer. Allan was born in Glendale, California to Howard and Violet Porter; he moved to Bakersfield in the early 1940's. Allan graduated from Bakersfield High School and worked briefly for Lockheed before beginning his 30-year career as a mechanic at the City of Bakersfield.
Allan loved working on cars, motorcycles and heavy equipment and could fix just about anything.
He was a wonderful and devoted father and an avid pet lover. Allan was known for his kindness, sarcasm and love of a cold beer. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Violet and his son Michael H. Porter. He is survived by his brother Glenn E. Porter, son, Carl L. Porter, Daughter, Catherine L. Nash (Lloyd) and grandsons, James A. Parker, Ryan J. Nash and Kyle N. Nash.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at Greenlawn Cemetery 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield.
