Allie "Blanch" Pendergrass Obituary
Allie "Blanch" Pendergrass 1925 - 2012 Blanch Pendergrass was born February 14, 1925, to Lemmie and Maude May Collins in Cedar Creek, MO, and passed away surrounded by family on June 15, 2012. She was the oldest daughter of ten children and helped raise all of her siblings after the passing of her own mother. Blanche's family relocated to California Central Valley in 1935, where she met her husband Clay. Blanch and Clay were married May 20, 1941, and settled in Alpaugh, CA, to begin their life together. Their love was a match made in Heaven, both being born in Missouri and yet meeting in California and sharing a wonderful life full of love together. Blanch is survived by her husband , Clay; sister, Ruth Cotton; and five children, Floyd (Valerie), Wayne (Anita), Beverly (Wesley) Mitchell, Wesley (Sheryl), and Joyce (Michael) Edgar. Also included are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Blanch was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. There was never a moment that she was not smiling, in the kitchen cooking and baking, or volunteering to take care of her grandchildren and/or great- grandchildren. They are the ones that brought her the greatest joy. It is the faith of God instilled in our family by Blanch that is keeping us strong through this difficult time; we know that she is in Heaven now, and we will be reunited with her in the future. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Lane. A chapel service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. For condolences please visit www.greenlawnmortuaryandcemetery.com Greenlawn Southwest www.bakersfield.com/obits
