Amos Collier, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, California. Amos was born in Van, Arkansas, but he lived most of his life in Bakersfield. He served in the army and was stationed in Germany in his mid 20s, and he was an operating engineer for 45 years. Amos loved gardening, watching Classic Western Films, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Some of his happiest moments were with his family at holiday gatherings. Amos was a kind, gentle, and loving soul who always put his family first.
He was preceded in death by his son Christopher Collier. Amos is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Linda Collier, his sister Gladys Peterman, and his three children: Mary Carrin Rozar, Melissa Knapp, and Robby Collier of Bakersfield. Five grandchildren, Tanna, Savannah, Marik, Amos, and Abigail, and one great-grandchild, Bari, also survive him.
Amos did not want a funeral service, and his family is honoring his wishes and celebrating his wonderful life in private.
