Andrew R. Patterson Obituary
Andrew Richard was born to Andrew J. and Jewell Patterson. Andrew grew up in Bakersfield and attended local schools.
He was enlisted in the United States 335th Infantry from 1942-1945. For his service in Europe, he was awarded several medals which included a Purple Heart, American Campaign and WWII Victory Medal.
Andrew was employed at Kern Medical Center for 33 years as an electrician and then later as Plant Superintendent. He was affectionately known as "Pat". Andrew met Betty while they were both employed at KMC and were married in 1953. He retired in 1986.
Andrew was a handy man who could fix just about anything. He was always busy keeping up with his "to-do list". In his free time he enjoyed growing his own vegetables, classical music and trips to the beach with Betty as his "co-pilot". He also enjoyed reading his Scientific American and National Geographic magazines. Visits from his grandchildren brought him happiness.
Andrew is survived by his wife Betty of 62 years, 2 daughters Linda Patterson and Carol Moreno (husband Daniel), 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and sister in-law Patricia Patterson.
Our family would like to thank all the special people at Pacifica Senior Living who provided him with all the care he required. Many thanks to Optimal Hospice for making Andrew comfortable during his last days.
Services at Greenlawn Chapel 3700 River Blvd. July 14th Tuesday 10am.
