Ann Marie Purcell Obituary
Ann Marie Purcell February 2, 1954 - August 1, 2012 Ann Purcell, proceeded in death by her loving Irish parents, John and Alice Purcell, and survived by 6 brothers and sisters, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and a huge number of friends around the world who were also like family, passed peacefully in her sleep on August 1, 2012. Ann was brilliant in every way. She had two Masters Degrees in the fields of holistic health and social work, achieving magna and summa cum lade. Before that, she earned a 4.0 throughout high school at Garces, and aced the SAT test. She could have been a star at anything, yet devoted her life to serving others. Everyone who met her was blessed with the positive effect of her loving and serving life. Ann helped many people find peace at the end of their lives. She broke all of the dumb rules - she smiled too much, laughed too loud, loved too freely, and feared too little, living every moment to the fullest. She honored the best rules - especially "love thy neighbor", and "do unto others". She will be sorely missed here on Earth, and will be a shining light, even in heaven. There will be a funeral mass at St Philip the Apostle Church on Stockdale Hwy this Saturday at 10:00 AM, followed by a reception at the church hall. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually, comfortably, and in bright colors on the hot day to celebrate Ann's life - she would have wanted it that way. In lieu of flowers, donate to your favorite hospice charity. www.bakersfield.com/obits
