Arlene Marcia Collins 1/21/1934 - 4/16/2013 Arlene Marcia Collins, 79, of Bakersfield, CA, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on 16 April 2013, after a short battle with MDS. Arlene's four daughters were by her side at the time of her death. Arlene was born in Lewiston, ID on 21 January 1934 to Martin and Alma Peterson. Arlene met the love of her life, Richard Collins, at a USO dance in L.A. They married in August 1953 in Lewiston, ID, and then returned to Camp Pendleton; in addition to CA, they also lived in ME, CT, and DE, and always made sure there was a place at their table for local military personnel. In addition to raising her girls, Arlene was a true servant of God, and used her God-given talents in her life of service. Arlene dedicated half a century to the evangelical church movement through fundraising, church development, missions, Bible study, and youth education. She also was an artistic quilter and literally blanketed her family and those in need with her loving craftsmanship. Her last charity project was creating quilts for the N.A.O.M.I. Children's House in Joseph City, AZ, via Calvary East Valley. Arlene is survived by her four daughters: Robin Hall of Garden Grove, CA, Donna (William) Slomski and Carrie (Larry) Barnes of Anaheim, CA, and Diana Collins of Bakersfield, CA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband and two great-grandchildren.
