Our mom was born to Felipe and Elisa Mora in Bakersfield. She attended local schools and was a lifelong Bakersfield resident. She married the love of her life, Henry Contreras, and the two spent 64 loving years together as man and wife. Out of this loving union came 7 children, 16 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
She absolutely loved being a housewife and mom, and especially a "Nana" to her grandkids, making her yeast bread or tortillas for all of us to enjoy. She loved her husband and family unconditionally. Many family memories were made camping in Pismo Beach, always a favorite place of hers. She loved family gatherings at Christmas and being surrounded by her children and their families.
She was preceded in death by her son, Henry Contreras Jr.; brothers, Inez Mora, Louie Mora, and Charlie Soria; and her sister, Darlene Bertolucci. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Henry Contreras; her children, Yvonne and Elias Salcido, Irene and Albert Arismendez, Steve and Marina Contreras, Patsy Contreras, John Contreras, and Susie and Tony Guevara, along with 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly. She is also survived by her siblings, Carmen Walker, Mary Deanda, Bob Mora, Eddie Mora; and sister-in-law, Charlene Soria; brother-in-law, Alex Bertolucci; brother-in-law, Art Contreras and wife Rita, along with many nieces and nephews who loved and will miss their "Aunt Baldy."
The family would like to thank Evergreen Post Acute Care for taking care of our mom, and a special thank you to the 4th floor nurses at San Joaquin Hospital for showing such compassion to Mom and our family during Mom's last days.
