Barry Michael Gallagher Obituary
With great sadness, the family of Barry Michael Gallagher announces that he left us in the early morning of August 5th, 2014. In the weeks before his passing, he enjoyed several fun-filled family celebrations and visits. His quiet, loving nature endeared him to everyone he met; he welcomed everyone as a friend. He was cherished by a large family and circle of friends. He will be greatly missed as a decent, compassionate, hard-working man.
Barry was born to Frank and Ruth Gallagher in Oakland, CA. He was the third child of nine. Barry and his family moved from Oakland to Chico, then to Santa Cruz in the late 1940's where he attended Holy Cross School, and then to Bakersfield where he graduated from Garces High School. Thereafter, Barry joined the Navy and was deployed by the Marines in the early part of the Vietnam conflict, serving border patrol in Laos. He retired as a Marine Corpsman in the Navy.
Barry loved his family more than anything. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his wife Judy Gallagher, daughters Alissa Machesky (Stan) and Katie Gallagher, step-daughters Lori MacNab (Ken) and Kelly DeDominic (Nick), and six grandchildren, Jackson, Aidan, and Ethan Machesky, Carter and Avery MacNab and Lucas DeDominic. He will also be forever missed by his surviving siblings and their spouses, Dennis Gallagher (Kate), Doug Gallagher (Rose), David Gallagher (Pat), Br. Ron Gallagher, Kathy Gallagher, Sharon Gallagher, and Maureen Chung (Terry), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Pat Hacker.
Barry genuinely touched the hearts of all who knew him through his steady, caring nature. We will carry this quiet gentleman's decency and example forward and treasure his spirit forever. Please find the full obituary at: http://www.greenlawnmortuaryandcemetery.com/obituaries/Barry-Gallagher/
