Benjie Mae (Mettler) Webby Obituary
Benjie Mae (Mettler) Webby July 2, 1943 - November 19, 2013 Benjie Webby of Bakersfield went home to see her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, November 19th after suffering from a stroke in May. Benjie was adopted by her loving parents William Mettler and Mary (Denio) Mettler in July, 1943. Growing up, she lived in Bakersfield, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, settling back in Bakersfield and finishing up her schooling at East High School. She enjoyed reading, dancing (or getting her "groove" on, as she described it) decorating for the holidays, and "puttering" in her yard. She loved to go out to lunch with her children, especially her grandsons, and she delighted in her visits to her friends at the Marketplace Bank of America and Vons, Marie Calendars and Coffee Vet Animal Hospital. She had a joyful laugh and enjoyed "cutting up". Benjie was proceeded in death by her parents Bill and Mary Mettler, and her half-brothers Reynold and Clifford Mettler. She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend, Thomas Webby, children Melinda Blackwood and husband Chuck; Mimi Corsaro-Dorsey and husband Edward Dorsey; Dan Fisher and his wife Annette, and grandson, Dallas R. Plater and his Fiancee Calais Wagner, and grandson Ridgely R. Dorsey. Her "other" children were her little dogs, Bear, Chi-Chi, Lulu, Ginger, Tina and her cat Tisha. Special thanks to the staff at Bakersfield Rehabilitation Hospital for their care. Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Tuesday November 26th at 11AM. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Bakersfield SPCA or Kern Humane Society. www.bakersfield.com/obits
