Benny Claude Mouser

The Mouser family moved to California during the dust bowl in Oklahoma and relocated with the Grapes of Wrath migration, to Shafter in Kern County in 1931.
Benny, son of Ted and Ethel Mouser, was born on December 4th, 1931 in Bakersfield, CA and passed away on September 5th, 2014 in Los Angeles, CA. Benny graduated from Wasco High School in 1950, and married his high school sweetheart Wanda Thurman. They had four children, Debra Mouser Worthen, Mark Mouser and is preceded in death by his son's Benny John Mouser, 1974 and Dennis Paul Mouser, 2009.
He received a degree in electrical engineering from Antelope Valley College, went on to work at Edwards Air Force base, after returning from military service with an honorable discharge from the U.S. Coast Guard.
Benny worked as an instrument technician for various utility companies, including Nevada Power, PG & E, So Cal Edison, Mohave generating station and Arizona Power. Benny worked for SCE for 5 years, brother Paul for 25 years and nephew Jeff Mouser, 32 years and counting. Jeff's son Bret Mouser has recently joined the Edison Co., to carry on the Mouser tradition.
Benny was a high school athlete, playing football, basketball and a standout pole vaulter in track. He was also, an avid golfer for many years. When Benny was 17 years old, he "stole the show", with his comical antics as "The Umbrella Man" in the Wasco High presentation of "The Mikado" in 1949.
Benny is survived by his daughter, Debra Worthen (Robert) of Las Vegas, NV son, Mark Mouser of San Francisco, CA, two grandson's, Robby Worthen, of Las Vegas, NV and Dennis Paul Mouser, Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska. Sister's Pauline Bouse (deceased), Marie Hancock (Ken) of Bakersfield, CA, Wanda Simpson (Ron) of Reno, NV, Diane Harrison (Bob) of Las Vegas, NV. Brother's, Ted Mouser, Jr. (deceased), Paul Mouser (Shirley) of Redondo Beach, CA, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Interment will be at the Bakersfield National Cemetery on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Also, Benny's brother Ted Mouser, Jr. will be interned at the same location at 1:15 pm, preceding Benny's service.
