Bernardino Rubalcaba Olmos Obituary
Bernardino Rubalcaba Olmos, 84, of Bakersfield, passed away peacefully at home on December 5, 2015.
Born in Jalisco, Mexico in 1931, Bernie was sent to work in California at the age of eight. Separated from the adults who were tasked with watching over him, he quickly learned to become self-reliant. Bernie spent most of his life working in the fields around Delano, modeling the importance of an honest and strong work ethic for his family. His one true joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Everyone from family, to the staff at Laurelglen Elementary lovingly knew him as "Grandpa".
Bernie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Vicky , daughter MJ Gonzalez, son-in-law Ramon Gonzalez, and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his son, Bernie Olmos in 1985.
A graveside memorial will be held on Wednesday, December 16th at North Kern Cemetary in Delano.
