Betty Bowles 1923 - 2013 Betty Bowles, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on February 3, 2013. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Betty met Jack Bowles while attending Los Angeles City College. The two were married in 1943. World War II separated Betty and Jack, but after Jack's discharge from the Navy, they resumed their lives together. Two sons were born during Jack's college days. Upon Jack's receiving his teaching credential, the family moved to Kern County in 1950. In 1952 a third son was born. Family meant everything to Betty. She devoted her life to Jack and her three sons. All four were blessed to call her wife or mother for over sixty years. Betty was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bakersfield. She and Jack served the church for many years and developed many lifelong friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her daughter- in-law, Janet. She is survived by her sister, Martha Goldstein; son, John and wife, Deloris; son, Jim and wife, Sherri; son, Ken and wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather, Kristen, Michael, Paul, and Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Sienna and Colin.
