Betty Jo Greenfield Obituary
Betty Jo Greenfield entered this world on May 7, 1932, in Geary, Oklahoma. She left this world on Mother's Day, May 10, 2015, in Bakersfield, California, with her family by her side. She was the daughter of Ray and Pauline Cantrell, who preceded her in death, as did her great-grandson, Rylan James Clark.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Billy Greenfield; her three children and their spouses, Diana and Allen Clark, Janis and Ronald Klawitter, and Kenneth and Rhonda Greenfield; grandchildren, Ryan Clark, Jared Clark, Patrick Klawitter, Kari Duran, Bryce Greenfield, and Dylan Klawitter; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Greenfield, Katheryn Klawitter, and Anneke Clark, as well as two more blessed arrivals later this year. She is also survived by a brother, Bill Cantrell and his wife, Jane Cantrell, as well as numerous nieces and extended family.
Betty came to McFarland, California, in 1934 from Texas. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in McFarland, from when it began in a tent for a chapel. She was baptized in a pond in McFarland by Pastor Tom Hicks as a teenager. She graduated from McFarland High School in 1950, and then married Billy Greenfield on November 26, 1950. She was a homemaker who later graduated from Lufkins Business College and had a career as a secretary in agriculture.
Her biggest accomplishment was being "Momo" to the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the Greenfield family. She had tremendous faith in Christ and made sure all around her knew the truth and got the message. She instilled Christian values in all of the family and was not shy about sharing her opinion when it came down to faith. She was a great cook and loved to prepare food for family gatherings. If you could look up "Mother" in the dictionary, you would find that our Momo was the gold standard of motherhood. It was only fitting that she gave us our greatest gift, her entrance into Heaven, on Mother's Day.
