Betty Lucille (Hudson) Love May 17, 1936 - March 12, 2013 Betty Lucille (Hudson) Love, age 76, of Lancaster, California, entered Heaven's Gate, Tuesday March 12, 2013, following a lengthy battle with Diabetes and Cancer, and quietly went home to be with the Lord. She was surrounded by family in her home. Betty was born May 17, 1936 in Purcell, Oklahoma, to Walter C. and Odessa Hudson. Betty grew up in Purcell, Oklahoma where she attended public schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Upon graduating High School, Betty pursued a Cosmetology Degree from Langston University in Langston,. Oklahoma. She later received an Associate Degree in Business from Antelope Valley College, Lancaster, California. While in the 7th grade, she met and later married the love of her life, Orbin C. Love, Sr., USAF (retired), where they had 8 children. (3 deceased). After excelling as a homemaker/hairdresser, and a military wife until her children were of school age, she was then employed by the Muroc Unified School District as a Special Education Teacher's Aid, where she served faithfully for the next 28 years, and retiring from Desert High School on Edwards AFB, California in 1996. Along with her family, the love of her life was serving God, and she served Him wherever He took her in the world, most specifically as a Choir Director, a Musician, a Sunday School Teacher and later, under the leadership of her husband as Pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church., she served as the First Lady and Church Secretary. Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 54 years; her children Berrenda Love-Lewis (Mark) of Chicago III, Orbin C. Jr., (Anna) of Bakersfield, California, Rev. Kelvin L. Sr. (Trudy) of Houston, Texas, Michele Trapani of Lancaster, California, Christina Foster (Marco ) of Albany, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one niece Patty Corbert; and one nephew, Cabby Mitchell. Visitation Services for Mrs. Love will be Friday evening, March 22, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Joshua Memorial Park and Mortuary at 808 E. Lancaster Blvd., Lancaster, California with Funeral Services to be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23rd, at First Southern Baptist Church, 306 E. Lancaster Blvd., Lancaster, California., with a second Service to be held on March 30th, in Purcell, Oklahoma, with Interment to be at Hillside Cemetery, in Purcell. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations be made in Betty's memory to and/or the National Cancer Institute. www.bakersfield.com/obits
