Betty Paulsen Obituary
Betty was born May 20, 1929 in Barlow, North Dakota to Emil and Elizabeth Heringer. After high school she moved to Denver, Colorado where she graduated from Business College and went to work for The Happy Home Bakery as a comptometer operator.
She married her husband, Alvin Paulsen, in 1949. They moved to Lompoc in 1962 and were together until his death in 2002. Betty enjoyed working at J C Penney's in Lompoc and The Iron Art gift shop in Solvang. She volunteered for The Christian Women's Club and The Half Century Club in Lompoc. Betty moved to Bakersfield in 2003 for a drier warmer climate. She really enjoyed the life style she found in Bakersfield, living in The Greens, enjoying the social functions. Betty's final home was in Pacifica Senior Living facility making new friends, walking with Ruby and the special entertainment. She loved her family, her cat (Annie), playing BINGO, listening to music, dancing and working in her yard.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Becky Gilbert (John) of Bakersfield, CA, Karen Dacus (Mike) of Lompoc, CA, grandchildren, Lisa Gilbert, Krissy Gilbert Ort (Matt), Jeff Dacus (Aimee) and Katie Dacus Daines (Chris); great-grandchildren, Hannah Gilbert, Colton Gilbert-Franklin, Ava Dacus, Jarrett Dacus , Izzy Ort, Cooper Ort, Piper Ort and Lincoln Ort. She is also survived by her older sisters, Eunice Martin and Bernice Wipperling, younger brother, Jack Heringer, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother, Eldon (Bud) Heringer, and sisters, Evelyn Rasmussen and Elaine Anderson.
