Betty Joan Pinheiro went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 8, 2016, in Bakersfield, CA. She was born in Artesia, CA, on October 24, 1939, to Gerard and Elizabeth Vanden Berg. She was the youngest of three girls. Betty moved with her family to Ripon, CA, when she was 3 years old. She attended Ripon Christian School through the 8th grade and graduated from Escalon High School in 1957. Betty had a passion for fashion and worked in a clothing store until she married the love of her life, Jack Pinheiro, on December 12, 1959. They made their home on the family dairy in Artesia, CA, and were blessed with four daughters and one son. They moved to Ontario, CA, in 1978 where Betty continued to raise her family in her patient and loving way. She enjoyed serving on the school board after her children had grown. Jack and Betty moved to Bakersfield in 2005, where they spent their final years. They so enjoyed traveling the world together throughout their 53 years of marriage. Betty enjoyed shopping with her girls, being at her vacation home in Pismo, and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed as a Mother and Grammy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Pinheiro. She is survived by her sisters, Joyce Van Konynenburg and Emma Lautenbach; her children, Dana Oldenkamp, Lisa Haagsma (Dave), Lucinda Shoup (Matt), Marri Tillema (Rich), and Jack A. Pinheiro; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Southwest in the Celebration of Life Center, located at 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, CA. For condolences please visit: Greenlawn Funeral Home Southwest
